Buy To Let Undiscovered Spain

With its sunny climate, child friendly culture and affordable flights, Spain has always been a favourite destination for the British.

--- Investment in property abroad has never been more popular. Escalating house prices at home, longer working hours and failing pension plans make the allure of a second home in the sun all the more appealing.

If you are looking to invest, the established and proven markets of southern Europe are safest. Good weather and easy access are key to the popularity and continued success of places such as southern Spain. Spain has always been a favourite destination for the British. With its sunny climate, child friendly culture and affordable flights, there is truly something for everyone. Traditional haunts in Spain such as the 'Costas' however can be overdeveloped and oversupplied and may not be the best places to be looking for a property.

Other less well known areas may be better placed to offer a good return on property investment in Spain. Away from the coast, there are a multitude of quaint traditional villages nestled in a wonderfully diverse landscape: scattered amongst the mountains, hidden in deep valleys or enveloped in citrus and olive groves and orchards of almonds. In the Costa de Almeria, there is even a desert, the only true desert in Europe.

Well known as a backdrop for spaghetti westerns, the Costa de Almeria offers a picturesque landscape from steep rocky cliffs with coves to miles of flat sandy beaches. In from the coast there are undulating valleys harvesting local produce.

There is a good choice of properties available as well which offer exceptional value for money: luxury apartments around golf courses, reformed traditional village houses and modern villa developments.

Just 20 minutes drive from Almeria airport and 10 minutes from the beautiful beaches of Roquetas de Mar, there is a coastal golf course development. Apartments there offer sea and mountain views and are built around a 5 star hotel. Prices for a 2 bedroom apartment with terrace start from €165,000.

Away from golf resorts and slightly further from the airport, refurbished village houses are becoming an increasingly popular choice. Village houses in Jauro offer stunning panoramic views. The village is located at the head of a valley and just 15 minutes drive to a number of superb beaches. Original features have been retained as far as possible. All houses in this peaceful village have three bathrooms, 3 or 4 bedrooms and a private courtyard garden. Just 35 minutes from Almeria airport prices start from €196,000.

For something a bit larger and nearer the busy hub of a town, the modern villas at Antas are an excellent option. Sitting on a plot of 700 sq.m. the villas have exceptional sea and mountain views and are only 10 minutes to the coast. Comprising 4 bedrooms, 2 fully equipped modern bathrooms and a fully fitted kitchen, prices are keenly set at €335,000.

The continuous appeal of Spain's culture and weather is enhanced by the solid infrastructure of towns and villages. Hospitals, schools, transport and communications are in place. For the holiday maker who just can't leave work behind, even the smallest of mountain villages can boast broadband connections these days!
