MRI Due To Appear In Court To Face Charges Of Theft

The property news portal Global Edge reported that 51 claiments from Ireland and Britain have been summoned to appear in court in Spain to press their claim against the directors of MRI (Darragh MacAnthony, Michael Liggan and Dominic Pickering) for taking money and then not deliverying furniture as promised.

Globel Edges report stated:

Former chairman Darragh MacAnthony and his former chief executives Michael Liggan and Dominic Pickering are accused of ‘theft by swindle and misappropriation of funds’ by allegidly failing to deliver over half a million pounds worth of furniture.

The alleged victims – who filed a claim in Madrid in June – accuse the Peterborough United Chairman and his former directors of keeping 600,000 euros which were paid for furniture packages for homes in Bulgaria, Turkey and Morocco.

“The claimants have been ordered to come to Spain as the judge wants to depose them, together,” explained lawyer Antonio Flores, who is representing the claimants.

“It is an exceptional request and a special room to fit them all is going to have to be arranged,” said Flores.

The general view is that this claim will probably be settled out of court, but we shall know more come January next year.
